FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not here, simply contact us using the contact button above, and we’ll get right back to you.

Where in the country are the LENS team based?

The directors are based in the South East, North East and Midlands.

Can you travel outside these areas?

We have the flexibility to offer all our courses nationally, consultations and peer support  in your area or our home bases.

I like most of the content of the courses for our staff, but they are not quite what I want. Can they be changed to suit our needs?

Our courses and modules are evolving as information and society changes. Breastfeeding is something that touches people in different ways for different reasons. All our courses can be adapted to meet your individual needs. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We already have peer support. How would you fit into that?

All the members of the Breastfeeding LENS team have extensive experience of peer support at numerous locations around the country. Our knowledge of implementing peer support can be explored thoroughly at a consultation. We offer a full review of your existing support with recommendations. Other options may include training for your staff on the latest breastfeeding information and evidence based practice, or factors important to successful peer support. Alternatively we can offer activity and information days for your peer supporters to enrich their role and update their skills. The level to which we may be of service can be set according to need.

We are just starting to explore the options of having peer support for our area, how can you help?

We have a complete package of peer support from that can be implemented and embedded into your  service provision. This approach enables you to join up staff training with community involvement and mother to mother support, bringing clients and staff together. This approach has proved itself to be excellent at opening up access to services for traditionally hard to reach populations. See MotherBaby Together for more information on this.

Is your peer support accredited?

Our experience and evidence suggests that successful peer support programmes work best when running with an accredited programme rather than accrediting individual peer supporters. The supporters may be women with young families who just want to support others like themselves. They may not want or need personal accreditation. If you opt for our peer support project ‘MotherBaby Together’, and we hope that you do, we will guide you to ways in which your whole project can be accredited.

I would like to become a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Can you help me with study days?
