Sally Goodwin-Mills RN (child), SCPHN (HV), IBCLC
Sally is the lead on all things ‘Infant Feeding’ for Public Health in Leeds City Council. Initially her main role was to lead Leeds Health Visiting service to Baby Friendly Accreditation which was achieved in 2013. Over the years the role has grown and developed and in 2012, after many years of endeavouring was able to commission a Peer Support service for Leeds. Sally is passionate about supporting women in their choice to breastfeed and is confident that improved Peer Support will empower more women to start breastfeeding and breastfeed for as long as they want.
Cath Stone IBCLC
Cath was accredited as a La Leche League Leader in 1994 after breastfeeding her three sons. She originally trained in Family and Childcare Social Work, and then became a Registered Childminder when the children were at home. In 2003, having volunteered on the breastfeeding committee at Calderdale Hospital and helping with the achievement of BFI status she worked as a part-time Breastfeeding Development Worker in Leeds, through the Mother and Infant Research Unit. This was followed by several years with Sure Start programmes and then Health for All, a community organisation, setting up breastfeeding groups and peer support training. During this time she took the IBCLC exam. Cath has been the Breastfeeding Peer Support Coordinator in Leeds since 2013 and now supports over 70 volunteers.
Please note, the WHO code, Global Strategy, WHA resolutions prohibit individuals employed by infant feeding manufacturers from providing any breastfeeding education to mothers. Breastfeeding LENS Limited events may not be used to support such work.
